The two engines are like night & day. You wouldn't believe they are based on the same unit. Both me & the Mrs had 75bhp High Ups before, and now both have 90 bhp Tsi's.
The GTI engine is substantially different to the TSI which is a completely different engine to the MPI. Apart from engine management to adjust the torque curve to fit an unnecessary extra cog, there is a larger turbocharger operating at a higher boost pressure. There are said to be some serious changes within the block as well.
The Life and R-Line both have a 4-cylinder 1.4-litre turbo engine producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque via an 8-speed automatic transmission and the front wheels. Finally the Golf GTI, at $61,490 it adds to the R-Line spec with different 18″ Alloys, Dynamic Chassis Control, Electromechanical Differential Lock (e-LSD), LED Plus

The Scirocco R 2.0l TSI engine can produce ~260 ft lb torque, while the GTI or Jetta Wolfsburg's 2.0l TSI can only give ~200 ft lb torque. Does anyone know what the technical difference between the two engines are? The engines between the above models appear similar, but the performance output is different.

Overall, the 48 V mild hybrid drive combines low consumption and emission values with excellent moving-off performance that is hardly matched in this way by systems without electric boost. EA211 and 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. One 1.0-litre and two 1.5-litre TSI engines serve as the drive basis for the new 48 V mild hybrid systems.
