Sleep. Sternen Valley Hostel [3], Lauterbrunnen. Tel & fax: +41 33 855 20 08, info@valleyhostel.ch. Cheap, homely and the hosts are sound. One place you won't want to leave & somewhere you recommend to travellers, friends and family. Set in the heart of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, just up the road from the train station and minutes from Staubbach
The Murren to Gimmelwald hike is very easy, along a mostly paved path. All these hikes are well marked with signs. Rick's guidebook has details about the Mannlichen-Klein Scheidegg, North Face Trail and Murren-Gimmelwald hikes. The Tourist offices in Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and Murren will have other options as well as maps.
A walk in the Lauterbrunnen Valley is a good option too. If you're really pressed for time, you can do the one-day Jungfrau Region trip we composed to see some highlights. The mountains of the Jungfrau Region. You may have heard of the famous viewpoints of Schilthorn and Jungfraujoch. But there are more. If you go in another season with less snow such as Spring, Summer, and Autumn, you should take a trekking from Lauterbrunnen to Trummelbach waterfall, then from Murren village to Gimmelwald village. This is a beautiful trekking trail that you can only say like you are walking in a fairy tale. Murren, a car-free village, faces the valley in summer. The hike down from Murren to Lauterbrunnen is absolutely breathtaking and I would highly recommend it. You could then walk the valley floor of Lauterbrunnen and visit the falls located there too. From Lauterbrunnen take the little train to the Kleine Scheidegg area that looks out over Grindelwald and there is a hike down to the village (which

Lauterbrunnen – Grütschalp – Mürren. Given that Mürren is unspoilt by traffic, you can reach it only by train, cableway, and of course, on foot. As your journey starts in Lauterbrunnen, you can take the direct cableway to Grütschalp and admire the scenic landscape from above.

Wengen and Murren are both car free villages and are slightly smaller than Lauterbrunnen. Murren is the highest of the 3. You can look across the valley and down a little and see Wengen. Staying in Lauterbrunnen you can have a great view of Staubbach falls which can be nice. Wengen seems to me to be a little upscale from the other two villages

Lucerne to Interlaken is only two hours. Add 25 minutes to get to Lauterbrunnen. From there, you can do a loop up to Muerren, walk abound, have lunch, maybe ride the funicular up Allmendhubel, walk down to Gimmelwald, cable car down to the valley, walk back to Lauterbrunnen or take the bus, see Trummelbach Falls if you want. Then you can stroll through the main street of Murren before heading back to the train and return trip on the final cable car to Lauterbrunnen. Overall this is a reasonably straightforward, relatively modest hike with stunning scenery and the bonus of the cable car, train, funicular and beautiful Murren thrown in for good measure! Otobq.
