An update on the remote locking key fob going out of synch. Well the strange thing is, the remote locking started working again. I never got round to disconnecting the car battery. I just tried the key fob, after a year when it first stopped, and it worked again ! Not sure why, or if it really has sorted itself, but it has been working since March.

For a quick recap, you need to sit in the car, lock with remote key fob, pull passenger (inside) door handle, then lock with remote again. Repeat this until the fob stops responding, then stick key in ignition start car, stop car, remove key and repeat the process until the door finally opens.

Instructions. Flip open the metal key. Use a flathead screwdriver to unlock the battery holder. The arrow needs to point out the metal key. Pry out the battery holder. Remove the battery from the holder. Insert the new battery in the battery holder. Do not switch the side with the + symbol. Insert the back of the battery holder in the key fob

We cannot start it thus getting it into the dealer will need to be towed and the closest Fiat mechanic is 130 miles away.

KEY FOB NOT WORKING . Good morning. Went out in car this morning Sportage 2016 Diesel 2 ltr, unlocked with keypad and started on button as normal. When arrived in town the keypad would't lock the doors,the mirrors stayed out and car wouldn't start unless I pressed the keypad against the start button, as instructed by dash.
