Re: Retarder related problem. First try deactivating automatic retarder (if you haven't already) and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, it may be a brake pedal issue. If you're using pedals, ensure there is a small dead zone for each pedal (this ensures there is an "off" zone). Finally, try unassigning and reassigning your retarder keys.

The retarder in the Scania trucks have five levels, of which four are "on" at different power. You need to turn it all the way down to turn it off. The easiest way to permanently disable the retarder would of course be to downgrade to the cheaper gearbox, as it does not have a retarder. #13. Default key to reduce the Retarder is ' (apostrophe). Hit that key three times to be sure it's all the way off, then try using CC again. You may have hit the activation key ; (semi-colon) for the Retarder without realising. used my sisters red nail polish as warning not to touch certain keys while gameing. #3. Electric retarders also put a heavy electrical load on the truck's alternator -- so it has to be sized (and possibly upgraded) appropriately. Engine brakes and retarders lose effectiveness at lower road and engine speeds -- the truck has to be in the right gear (lower, to increase engine RPM) to get the most out of an engine or exhaust brake
Well, you might be able to with higher braking intensity setting, but then it would always be emergency braking. Some sort of analog controller for accelerator and brakes is a really useful thing for this game. Ideally that would be pedals. #1. Nimir-Raj Mar 17, 2017 @ 6:24am.
The first can be dealt with by tuning it of and checking in the Gameplay Options if Auto retarder/Engine brake is not ticked. The second is not chsngeable as that is the normal behaviour of every vehicle. I checked and they are not ticked. And it's not the second option you said, because the truck is going braked, it slows down very quickly

I disabled these two, but I can't tell the difference (nor I understand what it should be). I was under the impression that engine braking just meant limiting the speed with the stick, so I don't understand how that would be automatic anyway, since I drive manual. As for the retarder, I know that my current truck has one but as far as I can tell it makes no difference, either with the
Hi Everyone, Lately I've been playing the game, however, I just discovered yesterday, that when I hit the brakes it simultaneusly activates the retarder in my truck. This only happens when I have the automatic retarder option activated. I have 3 profiles 1 with only promods and the other 2 are vanilla and in all 3 it works on the same way.
